Black Rose Update

Black Roses are quite beautiful with their velvet texture but some have a problem with turning brown after a day or two. I thought I might show you what the rose looks like five days later from the previous post. It's a little lighter but it hasn't turned brown and has kept the velvet texture. The bloom is hard as a rock, squish proof. This will be a keeper. I will continue to show its progress throughout the year.

Thornless Rose

Thornless and throws up eight blooms on one cane.

You can see there are no thorns

4/16/13

This rose is about as black as I have ever seen

This black rose is 5 days old and the shape has not changed at all. Looks like it will just freeze in this state. This will be a beautiful rose once the stripes have spread out through the bloom.

Eureka !!!

For years now I have been trying to achieve the color scheme of Black Magic iridescent red with white stripes.  Its very heat tolerant, good substance, slow to open and keeps this form for weeks.  No more worries of, will it blow open and shatter before the rose show. I hope it does well with disease.

Pretty in pink

I'm not really a fan of pink roses but I thought this one was cute. If you look closely you can see some white stripes.
